It’s been confirmed that the fan favourite Resurgence Mode will be returning to Call of Duty in Warzone 2’s second season when it arrives next month.
The news was confirmed in a post on the series’ official Twitter account, that also confirmed that the season will be arriving a little later than originally intended.
As per the tweet, “Season 2 includes all new content, with the return of resurgence and a brand new small map for Warzone 2.0.”
Warzone 2 Resurgence Mode predicted release date
Warzone 2 Resurgence Mode will release as part of Season 2. At the time of writing, it’s not been confirmed whether it’ll launch at the start of the season, or the Reloaded mid-season update.
Assuming it releases with the start of the season, Resurgence will arrive on February 15, 2023. Otherwise, it’ll likely land around the end of March. We’ll update when we hear more.
Back in December, Reddit users posted threads including what were purportedly images of a new, smaller map that was presumed to be for the mode. However, these were quickly taken down by DMCA claims by Activision.
At the moment, we don’t know if these rumours were accurately predicting the new map – presumably though we’ll know more next week as Infinity Ward has promised a ‘deep dive blog’ on changes coming to Warzone 2 in Season 2.
What is resurgence mode in Warzone 2?
In case you’re unfamiliar, Resurgence Mode is a faster paced version of Warzone’s main Battle Royale mode that takes place on a smaller map.
Crucially, the main difference is when a player dies in a squad. Usually when a player is killed, they’re taken to the Gulag to fight for a chance to respawn. If unsuccessful, the rest of the squad must buy back their fallen comrade from a Buy Station at a cost.
In Resurgence, however, deceased players are constantly dropped back into the battle on a regular timer – as long as at least one person in the squad is still alive. This makes for some hectic engagements, as it’s crucial to ensure a whole squad is dealt with before their teammates return.
