Fans who have been waiting to experience Prince Arthas’ downfall once more will soon have their chance, as Blizzard has announced that Warcraft III: Reforged will be released in January.

Warcraft III: Reforged is an upcoming remastered version of both Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and its expansion Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. The game has improved the quality of the visuals, changed the balance of the gameplay, made it easier for mods to be implemented, and revamped the online matchmaking with modern Battle.net features.

It won’t be long until Warcraft III: Reforged is available, as a new post on the Blizzard website has announced that the game will be released on January 28, 2020. The developers had originally planned to release the game before the end of the year, but they pushed it back a month in order to give it more polish.

There are two versions of Warcraft III: Reforged available at launch, one of which is the Standard Edition, which is just the game on its own for $29.99. There is also the Spoils of War Edition for $39.99, which comes with numerous benefits for other Blizzard games. The Spoils of War Edition gives players hero skins for Thrall, Arthas, Cenarius, and Jaina Proudmoore for the multiplayer mode in Warcraft III: Reforged, the Meat Wagon mount for World of Warcraft, Animated Sprays and Player Icons in Overwatch, the Mal’ganis pet in Diablo III, the Third War card back in Hearthstone, the Anub’rak, Jaina, Thrall, and Tyrande heroes for Heroes of the Storm, four console skins in StarCraft II, and the Spoils of War Console in StarCraft: Remastered.

Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos was one of the most popular strategy games of its era and we can’t wait to experience the game on modern systems. Blizzard might not be remastering Diablo II: Lord of Destruction any time soon, but at least fans will be given the chance to experience the war for Lordaeron once more.
