Go 8 Bit, Dave’s video game TV show fronted by Irish comedian Dara O’ Briain, has been cancelled, it was stealth announced in a Twitter reply to a fan that was curious on when the fourth series would begin.
Go 8 Bit followed your standard format for panel shows of two teams in a head-to-head, aiming to best each other in video games. Team captains (and the show’s creators) Steve McNeil and Sam Pamphilon were joined on each episode with a celebrity guest, while comedian and games journalist Ellie Gibson was the resident video game expert. The above response from the official Dave account was actually how McNeil discovered the show’s fate, as you can see from his own tweet below.
After three great series of Go8Bit we don’t have plans for any more – we’re hugely grateful to everyone who watched and enjoyed the show!

‘I’m sad there’s no more Go 8 Bit, for both personal and financial reasons,’ Gibson said to Eurogamer today. ‘But I’m extremely proud of the three series we did and it was an honour to be on the show.’
