We have some sad news for you PC playing fans of SEGA’s tactical RPG series Valkyria Chronicles. While a demo of Valkyria Chronicles 4 has indeed launched for consoles, SEGA has confirmed that a Steam version is certainly not in the cards.
It’s a shame, as Valkyria Chronicles 4 marks a return for the series’ numbered sequels to non-handheld machines. While the original game launched on the PlayStation 3 back in 2008, its sequels, Valkyria Chronicles II and III, both released on the PlayStation Portable (PSP). Yes, I suppose you could count the spin-off Valkyria Revolution as a console game since it came out not only for the Vita but for PlayStation 4 as well, but we’re not. And we won’t.
Such a tease
SEGA sure is tugging at some heartstrings with this announcement. Not long ago, we covered the news that Valkyria Chronicles 4 may not even come out for the PC. Now that we know it will indeed deploy on our platform of choice, the revelation that others will be able to enjoy the game starting today is a bummer. Especially since SEGA did confirm that the demo takes place early in the game, and progress made will roll over when you play the official release.
Oh, and you will receive an “exclusive accessory” for participating in the demo. Thanks. I hope it’s a wet dishcloth or something.
Valkyria Chronicles 4 will release on Steam on September 25.
