The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the UK’s new No.1 video game after recording huge week one sales, reports GFK ChartTrack.
CD Projekt Red’s sequel sold through 53 per cent more units than Battlefield Hardline managed back at its launch, which had been the year’s debut week best seller.
In addition, whilst matching the No.1 position of The Witcher 2 in 2012, The Witcher 3 actually managed a 608 per cent increase in units sold.
PS4 took a hefty 63 per cent of The Witcher 3’s week one sales, with 32 per cent on Xbox One. The rest came on PC, but remember that the game will have sold many more units digitally on PC.
Farming Simulator 15 is a new entry at No.2 thanks to the newly released PS4 and Xbox One versions, followed by GTA 5, FIFA 15 and Project Cars which slides down to fifth.
Elsewhere, retailer bundling helps Bloodborne leap 286 per cent and 22 places to No.11.

The Witcher 3’s success is great to see, and should set the studio up for a second big hit when Cyberpunk 2077 eventually launches. Splatoon is new this week, but we can’t really see it doing enough to push ahead of The Witcher 3 to claim the No.1 spot.
Bandai Namco is also on a high after successfully launching Project Cars and then The Witcher 3, proving itself to be a publisher capable of mixing it with the big boys.
