GfK ChartTrack reports that Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption has made it five consecutive weeks at the top of the All Formats All Prices UK video game chart, fending off Nintendo’s Super Mario Galaxy 2 for a second week.
Red Dead also managed to increase its lead over Mario from 1,000 units to a more comfortable 5,000 units.
Elsewhere, World Cup fever has boosted EA’s licensed video game, with sales up 16 per cent over last week. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands re-enters the Top 10 thanks to an 18 per cent sales boost, and Activision’s Blur is also a climber to No.9.
New entries faired less well, with Codemasters’ International Cricket 2010 at No.12 and Konami’s Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker beginning with a disappointing 18th place.
Friday’s new games include LEGO Harry Potter and Transformers: War for Cybertron, along with Demon’s Souls, Dementium 2, Singularity and BackBreaker.
