UPDATE: In a statement provided to VideoGamer.com, Ubisoft explained that the “Ubisoft Club replaces Uplay Win as the free single platform that rewards our players,” and that it has no plans to shut down Uplay.

“Uplay remains the account that enable players to access all Ubisoft services such as forums, customer support, Uplay shop, Uplay PC and Ubisoft Club,” the statement said. “Rewards already earned in Uplay Win will automatically be transferred to Ubisoft Club. Ubisoft Club also creates XP/Levels and Badges to enhance the game experience.”

The Ubisoft Club website is now also live.

ORIGINAL STORY: Ubisoft has plans to launch a new cross-platform rewards service later this year called the ‘Ubisoft Club’, it’s been revealed.

According to a trailer released by the publisher earlier today, the Ubisoft Club will let players earn XP, badges and Units by playing Ubisoft games, which can be used to access “extra in-game content, participation in betas, limited edition goodies, or discounts in the shop”.

The service sounds similar to Ubisoft’s existing Uplay platform, which lets players earn Units and unlock bonus content by fulfilling certain requirements in participating games.

Ubisoft has yet to announce when the Ubisoft Club will go live or how it ties in with Ubisoft’s plans for Uplay, although the trailer asks users to sign up to the service “now”, suggesting it could be due to go live as early as today.

The service’s website isn’t yet online, however, although an area on Ubisoft’s official website reveals that a closed beta has already taken place.
