Ubisoft Has Cancelled Pioneer The Game It Teased In Watch Dogs 2

Remember Pioneer? The sci-fi game that Ubisoft sneakily tucked away in Watch Dogs 2? Well, according to two former employees, the game has now been cancelled.

Ex-creative director Alex Hutchinson, who worked on last year’s Far Cry 5, Tweeted out ‘RIP Pioneer’ alongside a link to the trailer from which the teaser came from. A  similar post soon cropped up from Jonathan Cooper, a former Ubisoft animator.

Pioneer was meant to be some kind of space exploration title, with Ubisoft planning on unveiling the title fully in 2017. That, obviously, never happened. 

Kotaku sources at the time of the teaser’s discovery said that the game had been retooled after Ubisoft replaced a number of key staff on the project.
