The last weekend of September is finally approaching, which means TwitchCon 2019 is only a few days away. The convention promises to be a celebration of the popular streaming platform, featuring a myriad of exciting panels, workshops and events.

The convention will be hosted at the famous San Diego Convention Center. Located in the heart of one of the nation’s most vibrant urban cities, there’s always bound to be something fun and exciting going on. TwitchCon has plenty of attractions. But for those planning to spend a few extra days in the area, or who just want to step outside of the convention hall for a couple of hours, here are some awesome events and attractions to check out.

San Diego Zoo

Located just two miles from the convention center, the award-winning San Diego Zoo is the most visited zoo in the US, according to Today. Featuring more than 4,000 captivating animals and a renowned botanical garden, there’s always something thrilling and exciting to see. SeaWorld San Diego

The famous and beloved SeaWorld San Diego theme park is located just over five miles from the convention center. Featuring an expansive display of sea life, waterparks, shows, and exhilarating rides (including the brand new Tidal Twister roller coaster), visitors are in for a thrilling day of fun when here. In addition to the park’s regular entertainment, guests can enjoy SeaWorld’s “Halloween Spectacular” event running every weekend, including the weekend of the convention. Park tickets begin at $72 with online ticket purchase.

USS Midway Museum

Located only minutes away from the convention center, the USS Midway Museum is the best way to explore San Diego’s Navy heritage. Patrons will have the chance to explore a historic Navy aircraft carrier. Guided island tours are available, as well as fun attractions, including two flight simulators of varying intensities. General admission tickets start at $22 for adults, with discounts for students, seniors, and retired military.

Flagship Cruises and Events

Interested in taking a boat ride? Check out San Diego’s Flagship Cruises and Events. Flagship is hosting events all weekend long. From a local craft beer dinner cruise to scenic tours, champagne brunches and thrill rides, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Scavengers Beer and Adventure Tours of San Diego

An experience like no other, Forbes Travel named Scavengers Beer and Adventure Tours of San Diego one of the most unique beer tours in 2012. Patrons are picked up at the Santa Fe Downtown Depot and whisked around in a vintage Swiss safari vehicle to two or three different craft breweries. Those looking to shop can check out the Seaport Village. TwitchCon attendees arriving in San Diego early and eager for something to do on Thursday night can check out Seaport Sessions, a speaker series and mixer held in the Seaport Village Lighthouse District.
