This was revealed by streamer Travis Shreffler, who shared an email on Twitter last week that he received from Twitch, which outlined the feature. According to The Verge, the email was sent to a “mix of affiliates and partners” in order to set up a test group.

According to the email, “you can watch a selection of Prime Video movies and TV shows on your channel with any of your viewers who have Prime, including the new season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Mission: Impossible - Fallout, and Pokémon. This is a new way for you to engage with your community around great content that you can stream with your viewers.”

It should be made clear that this feature is still in its early stages and only a handful of streamers are currently able to use it. However, it will certainly be expanding and we will likely find out more details soon.

Though Watch Parties is still being tested, it has a lot of potential already. Not only will it be a fun way to watch movies and TV shows with streamers, but it might also shine the spotlight on some lesser-known Prime Video exclusives. It’s also yet another platform that will help big-budget Hollywood blockbusters gain a bigger audience that may not be willing or able to afford seeing movies in cinemas.

Watch Parties can also be a great way to introduce old classics to a new audience. For example, streamers will be able to share their favorite Halloween or holiday movies.

Though we don’t know enough about Watch Parties yet, hopefully we will find out more information soon.
