IRL streamer EBZ was stopped by LAPD this weekend for reckless driving, speeding, and making an illegal lane change without a signal. In the clip below, EBZ demonstrates his incautious driving habits while live on stream.
Of course, this isn’t the first time the streamer has stirred up controversy in connection to his on-stream behavior. No more than two weeks ago, EBZ was stopped by an officer and cited with a $700 ticket.
This time, the entire interaction with the police officer is caught on camera and streamed live to his viewers. In the clip, EBZ’s devil-may-care attitude quickly dissipates once he realizes that his actions are going to force him to dip deeper into his pockets than he anticipated. The conversation quickly turns into an argument that ends with EBZ offering a sardonic happy New Year to the officer.
EBZ’s troubling behind-the-wheel behavior doesn’t end there. In fact, it gets even worse. His on-camera traffic incidents even involve two hit-and-runs. In the first video, he tries to squeeze into a right-turn lane and seems to sideswipe the car to his left in the process. In the second, he just absent-mindedly rear ends someone.
Another video shows a seemingly intoxicated EBZ on the verge of nodding off at the wheel.
There is no shortage of clips online that demonstrate EBZ’s unlawfulness. It’s his borderline psychotic and mercurial behavior, however, that gets him so much attention amongst the streaming community. His antics are undoubtedly entertaining to a large number of people, but where should the line be drawn?
If people’s lives are being put in danger through his behavior, is it Twitch’s responsibility to step in and ban EBZ? Fans and critics of his streams alike are constantly asking in chat and on Reddit just how this guy has managed to keep his license. It’s not like the LAPD has a tough case to crack considering the hundreds of traffic violations that are captured on video.
Twitch may not be able to get EBZ’s license revoked, but they can prevent EBZ from being paid to drive like a drunk teenager by removing him from the platform.
