Twitch streamer ShyBear criticizes the site after banning her for an art stream where she created an image of a woman. ShyBear is one of several Twitch streamers who have criticized Twitch’s ban system , such as Corinna Kopf who was banned for wearing underwear when she was wearing a shirt.
On Twitter, Twitch streamer ShyBear has asked the site to “rethink how you guys do bans and ban people that actually deserve it” after it banned her for three days. ShyBear shared an image of what got her banned from Twitch, showing some unfinished artwork of a woman from behind. The unfinished art shows the sketched lines of the character’s bum and her chest, from the side, but fans of the streamer say it doesn’t show “too much” which is what Twitch says would be a violation of its terms of service.
Some of ShyBear’s followers have also wondered if her stream title could have been the reason she was banned. The title of the stream was “live nude painting auction” but ShyBear says that “I described the painting, not myself” and that “you are allowed to do nude portraits without nipples.” The painting doesn’t have nipples and ShyBear wasn’t nude in the stream, so it’s unclear why Twitch banned the streamer.
One former Twitch employee has said that Twitch doesn’t automatically ban people when they’re reported but it’s unclear if the site does automatically ban streamers for titles like ShyBear’s. However, it isn’t surprising that some don’t trust the site to make decisions when it does things such as banning streamers for unfinished nude artwork or using the word “nude” in their stream title. If that is what ShyBear was banned for then few would be against the streamer’s criticism of the site.
After revealing that she’d been banned, some of ShyBear’s fans asked her to move to Mixer. Streamers like King Gothalion have moved to Mixer while others have moved to YouTube and Facebook Gaming. Some of these streamers have moved so that they can do more brand deals, while others wanted to grow their audiences some more. It’s unclear how many, or if any, of those streamers who have left Twitch have done so because of unhappiness with the site’s ban system but with each strange Twitch ban the site more seem to ask the site to change it.
