NPD recently released its list of the top ten best selling domestic non-PC titles and we have a surprise winner. It’s not an Xbox 360 title, nor a PS3 one; it is in fact a Wii release. And a mini-game compilation to boot.

The winner is: Wii Play.

When you think about it, the result isn’t too surprising. Being bundled with a Wii Remote and only being priced a few dollars more makes Wii Play an attractive option for Wii owners.

According to NPD, Wii Play sold 11.1 million units in the U.S., beating out Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 which only (yeah, only) sold 8.82 million. Guitar Hero III came a close second with 10.2 million units and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas came third with 9.8 million.

Wii Play was also one of three Wii exclusive titles in the top ten, along with Wii Fit in fifth place and Mario Kart Wii in sixth.

For anyone who’s interested in the full list, well here you go:

  • Wii Play (Wii) Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (PS2, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360) Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2, Xbox) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PS3, Xbox 360) Wii Fit (Wii) Mario Kart Wii (Wii) Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3, Xbox 360, DS) Madden NFL 07 (PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox, PS2, PSP, DS, GC, GBA, Wii) Call of Duty: World at War (PS3, Xbox 360, DS, Wii) Namco Museum (DC, GBA, PS2, GC, Xbox, PSP, N64, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP, PS, Xbox 360)
