Resident Evil franchise masterminds Constantin Film and JB Pictures have got a Titanoboa movie in development. The movie is looking to The Meg for inspiration as it plans to feature the giant extinct snake coming back from the dead somehow to wreak havoc, likely on some wholly unprepared humans.
The Titanoboa movie is being fast-tracked, according to Deadline, and will begin filming next year. There are no cast details to share with you yet, but Tony Giglio (Resident Evil: Afterlife, Doom: Annihilation) is penning the script right now. Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kulzer, the team working to make Monster Hunter a success, are behind the film.
Hopefully, this currently-untitled Titanoboa offering will be a fun addition to the ever-burgeoning oversized slithery creature movie genre, which has already brought us the majestic likes of Anaconda, Anacondas: The Hunt For The Blood Orchid, Anaconda 3: Offspring, Anacondas: Trail Of Blood, Lake Placid, Lake Placid 2, Lake Placid 3, Lake Placid: The Final Chapter, Lake Placid: Legacy, Lake Placid vs. Anaconda, Python, Python 2, Boa, Boa vs. Python, Piranhaconda, and Megasnake.
Who can say?
You can certainly rest assured that there will be more Titanoboa coverage coming soon to Den Of Geek.
