This anime game is definitely for a very specific clientele. A lewd kind.
Lots of people think that the classic point-and-click adventure game genre is dead. To them, we point at Prison Princess and say that the genre is still alive. It’s just a little… different. Pretty graphics alone aren’t enough to keep the attention of the modern gamer. They need a little something extra to keep their eyes glued to the screen.
And Prison Princess is definitely something extra.
Believe it or not, Prison Princess is a game that will come to the Nintendo Switch next January. In it, you play as a dead hero who met his end trying to save two kidnapped princesses from an evil Demon King. However, despite being dead, you’re still able to interact with the world of the living as a helpful spirit. In this case, you’re trying to help two imprisoned princesses escape from the Demon King’s castle on their own.
Since you’re a ghost, you can’t interact with anything and your vision is obstructed by the veil between life and death. In order to do anything, you must order your princesses to investigate and collect items that may be helpful in their escape. The princesses will bend, contort, and even drop to their knees searching for that final key to break their bonds and escape.
“No touching, no glancing, and don’t get distracted,” is how Prison Princess describes itself. “The princesses will have to ‘put themselves out there’ if they want to solve the puzzles!"
In case the screenshots didn’t make it abundantly obvious, this game is a single-player, point-and-click adventure game where you spend a lot of time wondering why the princesses have posed in just the right way to show off their assets.
As you’d expect, one of the princesses is book-smart, while the other is a tomboy that somehow managed to get kidnapped on the one day she was wearing a gothic ballerina’s outfit. You’ll be able to save them both starting on January 30th by downloading Prison Princess from the Nintendo eShop.
