Payday and The Walking Dead firm Starbreeze is branching out into tech with the announcement of its Project StarVR, a new virtual reality headset which promises an IMAX-style field of vision.

The new headset will be demoed at E3 this week using the firm’s upcoming The Walking Dead FPS from developer Overkill Software.

Each eye has a 5 and half inch panel with a 2560×1440 resolution, which is pretty impressive. There’s also positional tracking, with the video above showing how the headset is able to virtualise a play gun the user is holding.

Starbreeze-owned InfinitEye is the firm behind the headset, but 505 Games, Toshiba and Lionsgate are also involved.
