The top 10 gaming companies made $126bn in revenue last year. That’s according to a new report by Newzoo, shared by Venturebeat. Chinese giant Tencent is at the top, with a revenue of $32.2bn. It’s followed by Sony ($18.2bn) and Apple ($15.3bn). Microsoft and Google round out the top five, with $12.9bn and $11.0bn in revenue respectively. Activision Blizzard and Nintendo are in joint eighth place with $8.1bn. Changes in revenue compared to the previous financial year aren’t huge, with Newzoo stating that acquisitions will likely be the biggest differentiator in driving growth....
“SHAAAAAAAUN” – Heavy Rain Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain touches on a lot of truths about parenthood. It explores the relationship between father Ethan Mars and his son Shaun as they flee from a psychopathic serial killer. Unfortunately, one of the key plot-points can be ruined by a ridiculous glitch. At one point, a prompt appears, telling the player to press ‘X’ to have Ethan call out to Shaun. Sometimes, this prompt never goes away, and Ethan can continue to yell loudly for Shaun for a good portion of the game....

Total War: Warhammer will be available for free next week from the Epic Games Store. The strategy game will be available from 31st March until 7th April. Left 4 Dead creators Turtle Rock have given a small update on upcoming zombie co-op shooter Back 4 Blood over the weekend by posting some new concept art over on the studio’s official Twitter account. It’s not a huge amount to go on, but the caption offered alongside mentions giving fans ‘a little Hope’ with the word Hope capitalised, so presumably pictured is some kind of settlement for the survivors – feel free to speculate for yourself by taking a look at the image for yourself below....
Twitch’s banning streak continues this week with streamer Qucqo as the latest to receive suspension after wearing a Chun-Li cosplay while live streaming. Quqco, an art streamer who cosplayed as Street Fighter character Chun-Li last night during a live stream, tweeted this morning to inform her followers that Twitch had issued a Community Guidelines strike on her account due to “sharing or engaging in sexually suggestive content or activities.” She has been suspended for three days....

Twitch has shared an update on the measures it’s taking to combat child grooming. Back in September, Bloomberg reported multiple instances of child abuse on the streaming platform. Twitch shared a blog post in response detailing its protection measures. That blog post has now been updated with further details on the multiple prevention methods put in place. “The bad actors who pursue this kind of abuse are often coordinated and intentional in the ways they work to get around both online and real-world safeguards,” reads the post....
WWE has been airing a documentary series on The Undertaker titled The Last Ride, which aired its final episode on Sunday. The series followed Undertaker’s last three years in WWE, chronicling his last half dozen matches with the promotion and his struggle with whether or not to retire over the last three years. At the end of the final episode, Undertaker said that he’s done. The Boneyard Match against AJ Styles, which took place in front of no fans at this year’s WrestleMania, would be the last of his career … well, at least he thinks so....

Valve has released a statement regarding exclusivity in professional Counter-Strike, presumably in response to recent controversy surrounding certain leagues in CS:GO. The statement also addresses media rights, something that disrupted the recent StarLadder Major’s community streams. Counter-Strike has had multiple professional leagues over its lifetime, most notably ESL Pro League and ECS. Prominent CS:GO tournament organizers ESL and BLAST recently revealed their plans to build broad tournament circuits in 2020. While Valve states that they are in favor of organizers experimenting with their events, they are not interested in any exclusivity rules within tournaments....
Despite saying differently on both the front and back of the game’s box, it sounds like owners of Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong’s PS4 version won’t actually get their promised free PS5 upgrade. A post on Reddit detailing a message from Nacon’s customer support claims the publisher made an error advertising the upgrade. “We inform you that the developers confirm that if you bought the version of the video game for PS4 it is not possible to update the video game for the PS5 version,” Nacon explained in a reply to one owner of a PS4 version of the game....

Fallout 76 has been on an unstable roller coaster that’s barely held up by a wooden foundation ever since launch. The first wave of Watch Dogs Legion’s online modes are now live in the open-world hack-em-up for Xbox consoles, PlayStation consoles and Google Stadia, Ubisoft has announced. The modes currently live include free-roam open world co-op allowing you and up to three friends to team up and explore London, as well as take parts in city events, challenges and side activities. New co-op missions that use exclusive co-op mechanics across several iconic landmarks are also available as well as PvP mode Spiderbot Arena....
