Top-down neon-futuristic twin-stick shooter AIPD is coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC on January 29, publisher Morphicon has announced. It’ll cost £6.99. Developed using Unreal Engine 4, AIPD arms players with a range of “highly specialised weapons and equipment” to hunt down criminal AIs across a variety of 2D arenas. Up to 4-player co-op is supported, with players able to unlock new weapons and equipment as they progress, including “might howitzers”, “precise phasers” and boost and armour mods....

Following an apparent anonymous threat of gun violence against Twitch, staff were asked to work from home while police performed an investigation. The San Francisco Police Department responded to the organization’s headquarters today following the threat. Speaking to Business Insider earlier today, a representative at Twitch stated: The mention of a shooting threat was not confirmed officially at first, but was discussed by employees across social-media. By the afternoon, the SFPD indicated that there was no active threat at the organization....

A documentary celebrating the 30th birthday of Lemmings has premiered on YouTube. Lemmings: Can You Dig It? explores the legacy of the game with its original creators and its impact on Scottish and UK games culture. Lemmings was first released on the Commodore Amiga in 1991 and has since become iconic. After months of waiting, it appears Ubisoft is finally ready to show off what the next Far Cry will be all about. The company is offering a first look at Far Cry 6 gameplay on May 28 at 12:30 PM ET. Two of Ubisoft’s most powerful executives are out of the company after allegations of sexual misconduct have led to a “structural shift” across its offices and workplaces. In June, a number of stories of serious abuse, harassment, and misconduct from Ubisoft employees were shared through social media. Andrien Gbinigie, Stone Chin, Ashraf Ismail, Tommy François, and Maxime Beland have all experienced repercussions from these allegations, and Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot committed to a “structural shift” to “improve accountability” and to listen and empathise with those who have come forward....

The Uncharted movie has lost its director Seth Gordon after the chairman of Sony Pictures’ Motion Picture Group Tom Rothman decided to take the project in a new creative direction, The Wrap reports. Rothman took over from departed Sony Pictures chairman Amy Pascal in February 2015. A similar report from Heroic Hollywood states that Rothman slashed the project’s production budget and now sees the movie not as Sony’s Indiana Jones, but more like Resident Evil....

A new patch came Dota 2’s way yesterday as game studio Valve unveiled a new, “experimental” matchmaking update. This update will change the way players’ matchmaking rating (MMR) is calculated, completely doing away with separate “solo” and “party” MMR’s. The main goal of this patch is to put more focus on intra-team balance, player conduct, and abusive behaviors, along with other aspects of the matchmaking system in an effort to make the Dota 2 matchmaking experience more enjoyable for players of all levels....

A gameplay trailer for Warhammer: Vermintide 2’s first expansion shows off a new elite enemy type and a hordes of savage Beastmen. The new minions are just one of several additions coming in Winds of Magic, due out sometime this month. The focus of the trailer is a bruting, double-axe wielding Minotaur, whom I can only assume from what I know about Vermintide, reeks of putrid death.
