Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia was released in May to mixed reviews. The Total War game set in the British Isles kickstarted their “Saga” line. It had its share of fans but did have more detractors. From there, the general consensus on the game had been a failure. That, or it was a terrible idea for Creative Assembly. With these in mind, Thrones of Britannia game director — the very dapper Jack Lusted — spoke to YouTuber and Total War player Cody Bonds....

In tonight’s flurry of announcements surrounding the future of Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft has announced the series’ first open-world game for mobile devices. It’s currently named Assassin’s Creed: Codename Jade, and is described as “coming soon”. Jade will be set in ancient China, and let you parkour all over the country’s Great Wall as a player-created character. (So, no, you’re not playing as fan-favourite Shao Jun. But perhaps she’ll appear?) Details on Jade are thin on the ground, but a trailer made it look attractive enough....

Just hours before the company holds its next Ubisoft Forward event, CEO Yves Guillemot offered an apology. In a video statement, Guillemot addressed the past year’s reports of company-wide misconduct, which ranged from allegations of harassment and assault, as well as issues with recent offensive content in Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad. The apology follows months of sexual misconduct allegations and a company investigation. In June, Ashraf Ismail, the creative director of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, stepped down when reports of an extramarital affair came to light....

Ubisoft has delayed the release of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and it will now be out in 2023. The game was supposed to be released this year, though it didn’t have a fixed release date. Ubisoft released a statement on the delay: “We are committed to delivering a cutting-edge immersive experience that takes full advantage of next-gen technology, as this amazing global entertainment brand represents a major multi-year opportunity for Ubisoft....

[Update: January 13, 2023 @ 11:25 AM ET]: Following the announcement of the canceled games and Skull and Bones getting delayed (again), Ubisoft has put out a statement that there will be a livestream later today on its Twitch channel to showcase “exciting content coming up” on a new episode of ‘The Deck.’ Ubisoft also wrote that it will reveal a new release date for Skull and Bones soon, as well as detail “upcoming test phases....

Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy has managed four consecutive weeks at the summit of the UK All Format Chart. The crate-bashing marsupial’s latest effort launched on PlayStation 4 last summer to huge success, where it topped the charts for weeks on end. Now, its Xbox One and Switch launch has resulted in a massive surge in sales, putting it back in the public consciousness once more. The UK’s National Health Service, or NHS, has announced plans to open its first centre for gaming addiction. The announcement comes several months after the World Health Organization, WHO, voted to classify gaming addiction by 2022. Called the Centre for Internet and Gaming Disorder, it will treat young people between the ages of 13 to 25. The centre is part of the National Centre for Behavioural Addictions in London and those who are referred to it by their doctor will work with clinical psychologists, therapists, psychiatrists, mental health nurses, therapists, and psychiatrists who specialize in treating young people....

Software developer Unity Technologies has published a new report detailing its successes over the last 12 months. The Unity Gaming Report provides a plethora of information that was previously unknown. This includes the claim that over the last year the Unity game engine saw a 93% increase in development use. The report also states that this increase is universal across almost all genres, with “hyper-casual games” receiving the biggest bump up by 137%....

After its game-changing reveal on PlayStation 5 and following a period of early access, Unreal Engine 5 is finally available for general download. In combination with the release, Epic is releasing a cut-down, Keanu-free rendition of the remarkable The Matrix Awakens demo alongside a sample game project to experiment with, called Lyra. The Call of Duty NEXT Showcase event has revealed a new vehicle interactive and distractibility feature for the upcoming Modern Warfare 2. With this latest addition to the game, you’ll have the advantage of leaning out the windows of vehicles, where you can defend your team by shooting down enemies. You can also shoot different sections of the car, such as bumpers and tires. However, you’ll have to use an RPG or high-powered rifle to be able to take off doors....

After playing a supporting role since her first full appearance in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Age of Ultron, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch has finally been given the spotlight in the Disney Plus series WandaVision. Of course, Scarlet Witch has lost the Sokovian accent she had since her introduction to the MCU and Olsen recently offered an explanation as to why. Born in the European country of Sokovia, Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff and her twin brother Pietro lost their parents after their apartment was bombed with weapons developed by Stark Industries....

Developer Fatshark may be busy working on Warhammer 40K: Darktide, but it still has more prepared for Vermintide II. The latter game released to positive reviews back in 2018, receiving multiple updates and content packs. One of which was Chaos Wastes, a free DLC that injected rogue-lite elements into the fold. But soon, Chaos Wastes will be expanded further in Vermintide II with a Be’lakor update, which alters levels and applies various curses....

Bugs in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 are a common occurrence and if you haven’t encountered one yet, consider yourself among the lucky ones. Admittedly, some bugs are quite amusing, such as being able to take out your teammate at the end of a gulag victory. On the opposite end of the scale, some issues are game-breaking.
