A blatant copy of brilliant indie game Unpacking has today been pulled from iPhone and Google Play stores - but only after it topped their most-downloaded charts. Anger at the clone’s success spilled over last night, as Unpacking’s official Twitter account flagged the rip-off to followers and made clear it was nothing to do with the game’s original creators. Hundreds of fans had reported the app, which is fuelled by microtransactions, to the Unpacking team....

A revamped version of competitive first-person aerial-combat game Strike Vector EX will launch this summer on PS4 and Xbox One, developer RageQuit Corporation has announced. The game arrived on Steam in 2014. Inspired by Quake 3, Unreal Tournament and Crimson Skies, the game puts players in control of customisable mech-inspired crafts which battle in aerial dogfights across eight industrial sci-fi arenas. The new Unreal Engine 4 powered PS4 and Xbox One versions are said to have been “fine tuned to provide instant feedback and tight console controls”....

Untitled Goose Game was undeniably one of the biggest gaming phenomenons of 2019. Its well-received gameplay aside, the simple ingenuity of having players make a low poly goose terrorize a small English town pretty much single-handedly made the game a hit. Its initial release for PC and Switch helped it reach a reasonably wide audience, but it’s no surprise that, after the online phenomenon that was Goose Game, developers House House might want to see the goose on even more platforms....

Splyce top laner Tamás “Vizicsacsi” Kiss will be retiring from professional League of Legends, the 26-year-old announced yesterday. The Hungarian player has been active since 2013, playing under the Unicorns of Love, FC Schalke 04, and Splyce banners. He recently made a career-best quarter-final appearance at the 2019 World Championship. The top laner announced his decision to retire from professional play in a TwitLonger, where he states that he does not feel he has the “drive and motivation” to continue playing....

Directly following EA’s EA Play conference last night the publisher streamed Battlefield 1 being played by 64 people, giving us a look at multiplayer gameplay for the first time. Sony Pictures Entertainment is continuing to promote the upcoming Uncharted movie quite actively, and today we get a new video. This time around it isn’t some bombastic action scene, but a chat between Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann. Earlier today, we had a look at an entirely different world war, one about zombies. This time around, we’re going back to a reality, or rather, one possible future — World War 3. The cooperative first-person shooter from developer The Farm 51 promises a brand-new combat experience featuring real-world locations. The Xbox Series X doesn’t have exclusive titles when it launches later this year, because gaming isn’t only about who’s playing what on which hardware (via VG247). Xbox boss Phil Spencer explained what that means in an interview with Gamertag Radio. “One of the benefits that we have sitting inside of Microsoft is we’ve obviously been close to the development of what’s been going on with PC for years,” said Spencer....

Yesterday’s announcement that Sony has extended the PlayStation 4’s lifespan thanks to the ongoing supply issues facing the PlayStation 5 means we will remain in console transition limbo for a while longer. Microsoft, meanwhile, has stopped production of new Xbox One consoles, though said back in 2020 that it would continue to support the Xbox One with first-party games for at least two years. This makes it all the more important that both Sony and Microsoft continue to improve the shaky foundations of their cross-gen upgrade paths, more than a year after PS5 and Xbox Series X/S first arrived....

Six years after its launch, the original Overwatch is no more, with Blizzard having now forever pulled the plug on the game in preparation for Overwatch 2’s free-to-play arrival tomorrow. Fans gathered earlier today to witness the final moments of Overwatch, recording the momentous occasion for posterity. Despite its place in the gaming pantheon, though, it met an unceremonious end, blinking out of existing with a simple “disconnected” message. E3 is less than a month away now and more details about what to expect are starting to leak out. Companies have begun to reveal their cryptic E3 floor plans and today THQ Nordic have joined them. The plans show two sections for unannounced games, numbered simply 1 and 2. While the titles themselves reveal nothing, the brief information underneath gives us more of a clue. Soon fans of Tiger & Bunny will be able to enjoy a brand new TV series on Netflix, and Bandai Spirit has an additional treat in store within its S.H.Figuarts brand. The Japanese figure manufacturer has made two action figures portraying protagonists Wild Tiger and Barnaby Brooks available for pre-order. You can reserve them both at Ami Ami for 4,500 yen each, which translates approximately into $38. They will be released respectively in July and August 2022, and they are fully posable with alternate helmet-less heads and hands....
