Fornite recently kicked off its ninth season. It’s almost overwhelming looking back on all of the changes that have occurred within the game’s map, especially when it comes to plucking and plugging new weapons and ways to play. The new content does also seem to have its ties to pop-culture. The Avengers have come, gone, and returned to Fortnite universe. Most notably, this came with the introduction of players chasing the gauntlet to become Thanos himself....

This week’s free The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt DLC offers an alternative look for Ciri, CD Projekt Red has announced. The new look can be seen in the picture below. All the free DLC is just the appetiser before the paid DLC expansions launch in October and then in Q1 2016. The first expansion, Hearts of Stone, promises to take Geralt on an all-new, 10-hour-plus adventure into the wilds of No Man’s Land and the nooks and alleys of Oxenfurt, where he’ll try to complete a contract from the mysterious Man of Glass....

Late yesterday evening, Twitch announced that they would be prohibiting and banning the streaming of gambling sites that aren’t liscened in the U.S. or other jurisdictions that provide sufficient consumer protection. This is obviously big news in the streamer world, as gambling has been a big part of the platform for creators like xQc and Trainwreck. As a result of this news, there are a lot of people, like the streamers mentioned above, that aren’t thrilled with the news....

Iceberg Interactive and Stormling Studios have announced that an Extended Edition of Transient is coming to consoles next month. Described as a “cyberpunk meets Lovecraft” horror adventure, the game originally launched last year for PC. Set in a post-apocalyptic future, you’ll be playing as Rudolph Carter. He’s a cyber-augmented hacker for hire who stumbles upon a conspiracy that threatens to tear apart his own sanity. Special Note: When the subject of Twilight comes up, I typically roll my eyes in disgust and tune out…just like most men. Therefore, in fairness to the material, I’ve enlisted the help of my wife, who has actually read all of these books and has a love/hate relationship with them, to explore the possibility of a Twilight video game in the near future. Streaming platform Twitch has removed the popular global ‘PogChamp’ emote following controversial statements made by the emote’s likeness, fighting game personality Ryan “Gootecks” Gutierrez. In a statement posted to Twitter, Twitch said “We’ve made the decision to remove the PogChamp emote following statementsn from the face of the emote encouraging further violence after what took place in the Capitol today.” The comments Gutierrez made encouraging further “civil unrest” came in the wake of the US Capitol being violently overrun by far right protestors acting in support of baseless claims by President Trump that the election victory of his opponent Joe Biden was fraudulent....

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has said that Ubisoft will bring games to the Steam Deck, if the platform is successful. In response to a question from an investor (via IGN), Guillemot said: “We’re happy to see Steam Deck coming to the industry, it shows that it continues a flow of very innovative new hardware coming to the market. So we will look and see how big it becomes, but if it’s big we will be able to put our games on it....

After ending Crash Bandicoot’s dominant reign of seven weeks on top of the UK charts, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy hangs onto its top spot despite a 70% drop-off in sales in its second week. With the World Cup and Wimbledon in full swing, studios have largely counter-programmed UK cinema releases opposite the sport for the last few weeks. It’s surprising that two sports comedies landed in cinemas this week – the Rob Brydon-starring synchronised swimming film Swimming With Men, and une movie de Pepsi Productions, Uncle Drew, which stars Lil Rey Howery and Tiffany Haddish alongside a squad of pro basketballers disguised in old-age prosthetics....

Undone centers on Alma, played by Rosa Salazar (Alita: Battle Angel), a 28-year old going through the motions with her boyfriend Sam (Siddharth Dhananjay). Alma starts becoming restless about her boring, seemingly predetermined future when her sister Becca (Angelique Cabral) gets engaged. After a blowout fight with Becca, which once again circles back to the untimely death of their father Jacob (Bob Odenkirk), Alma gets into a serious car accident. When she awakes, Alma finds herself not only with the ability to communicate with Jacob, but with the power to move through space and time in nonlinear fashion....

Almost eight years after its initial release in Japan, the free-to-play action-RPG Phantasy Star Online 2 is finally coming to the Western world. Many suspected that the game would only be available through the Windows Store. However, a recent discovery has revealed it will also come to Steam on PC. The surprising source of the discovery was the game’s manual. This, it turns out, includes instructions on how to launch Phantasy Star Online 2 through Steam – as well as a Windows 10 app, of course....

Mattel Games is releasing a new version of the popular card game Uno that may be just what some families need for the holidays. Fans have discovered that the information related to the recent Nintendo “Gigaleak” contains information related to a never-before-seen Animal Crossing villager and other design curiosities. Those new villagers were seemingly supposed to be implemented into the N64 predecessor to Animal Crossing. For those who don’t know, the N64 version of Animal Crossing was released in Japan as Animal Forest. It’s basically the same game as Animal Crossing for GameCube with a few differences here and there....

An intriguing-sounding psychological thriller called The Gap was announced during the Future Games Show this evening. It’s described as a hard sci-fi first-person narrative game set in 2045, not that the sci-fi elements are particularly apparent from the debut trailer. This shows you, a neuroscientist called Joshua Hayes, waking up on the floor of presumably your own apartment, with a voice - and written messages on the walls - telling you not to trust anyone....

Nobody does cinematics quite like Riot Games, a publisher beloved for its incredible production of new games, content drops, lore, and esports events. Today, it’s the latter of those as Valorant’s anticipated upcoming tournament Masters Copenhagen draws ever closer. It’s the second major esports competition for the game so far this year, which sees the 12 best teams from around the globe duke it out in Denmark for their share of half a million or so dollars....

Valorant’s map pool is changing. The launch of Episode 5, Act 1, has seen the introduction of an all-new map called Pearl, and the removal of an original in Split. Pearl is much more attack-sided than the one it replaces, and while its many sharp angles and small areas are somewhat similar to Split, it’s also much bigger. In our experience in early access so far, there’s a lot to learn....

Valve has today revealed what they are calling DOTA Plus which will cost DOTA 2 players $3.99 a month. This new plan has been introduced to replace the Majors Battle Pass system. Valve is calling DOTA Plus the “evolution of the Battle Pass” and has been introduced to offer new feature content on a regular basis. Much of vocal DOTA 2 community on Steam and Reddit not impressed with this change because some of what is included should really be part of the base game, especially when it comes to helping new players get to grips with the complexities of DOTA 2....
