Ubisoft Reflections are rapidly becoming the company’s studio for smaller, experimental games. That proves to be the case again, with the quick one-two announcement and release of new title, Ode. Available on Uplay today for $5.00 USD, Ode looks like a fairly chill exploration game with some musical and puzzle themes. There are no tutorials or hints (a decent selling point for this sort of thing); just you, a person called Joy inside a hamster bubble, and four gardens to roll around....

Ubisoft has announced Tom Clancy’s The Division Resurgence, a new free-to-play entry in its looter shooter series for smartphones due for a full launch in 2023. Like its bigger console and PC brothers, Resurgence will be a third-person shooter RPG set in an open world, with a fresh story campaign which will offer a “new perspective on key story events”. Once again you play as an agent allied to the Strategic Homeland Division in a post-crisis America, following a deadly virus outbreak and the collapse of the government....

Ubisoft has seen a fair amount of bad press and overall poor performance of late, a result of which has seen its chief executive taking a voluntary pay cut. A recent company filing revealed Yves Guillemot chose to forgo about a third of his annual compensation (via Axios), equating to a pay cut of €310k (approximately £266k / $327k). An Ubisoft spokesperson told Axios this was a “personal decision by Yves Guillemot, which he took considering that the company had not reached the financial targets that it had publicly communicated to the markets”....

Ubisoft has confirmed that leaked footage of a new and unannounced project codenamed Project Q is real. Val Kilmer has addressed the circumstances that led to him leaving the role of Batman behind after just one movie. In a huge new interview with the New York Times, the actor says he had an epiphany on the set of Joel Schumacher’s 1995 Dark Knight effort, Batman Forever, when billionaire Warren Buffett visited the set with his grandchildren. According to Kilmer, he kindly waited to meet Buffett’s kids as he was told they wanted to see Batman, but when they arrived to find a Batsuited Kilmer ready to engage with them, they snubbed him for the Batmobile and various props, and he realised that it didn’t matter who was in the suit, and that Batman is purely a blank slate that we project ourselves on....

On March 31, Valve revealed a comeback plan for its failed digital card game, Artifact. The company chose to rework the gameplay to lower its complexity and make it more inviting for new players. Now, however, Deadline has shared the series’ first major bit of casting news, revealing that Walton Goggins - whose credits include Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight, The Shield, and Sons of Anarchy - will join the Fallout adaptation in a lead role. Details of Goggins’ character haven’t been formally revealed, but Deadline believes he’ll be playing a Ghoul - one of the Fallout series’ many mutated humans, whose condition is a result of prolonged exposure to radiation amid the Great War....

Nintendo has announced that classic Nintendo 64 jetski racer Wave Race 64 will be added to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. The game originally launched all the way back in 1996. It was generally considered as a launch title for Nintendo’s console. However, it actually launched one month later than the European launch of the system in April of that year. Featuring plenty of courses, unique stunts and more, the game’s sure to be a popular addition to the growing Nintendo 64 catalogue on the service....
