It’s impressive just how well Trek to Yomi lands the Kurosawa-esque, black and white Samurai movie aesthetic. Gorgeous panoramas give way to detailed overhead shots, starkly outlined in monochrome. Our beleaguered protagonist cleanly cuts his opponents down after nimbly shrugging off their strikes. The presentation as a whole is exactly where it needs to be, presenting a dour, conflicted tale of one man’s journey to right his own wrong. But a game can’t be judged solely by its presentation, which is where Trek to Yomi stumbles and trips....

If we could describe the PlayStation 5’s logo reveal in one word, it would be… underwhelming. Sony offered a first look at the upcoming console’s logo design during their CES 2020 Conference last Monday, but fans were less than impressed with the outcome. The next-gen console’s logo is exactly the same as its predecessors, PS4 and PS3, but with a 5 at the end instead. Same color, same font, same everything....

DICE has announced that it is giving away another batch of free Battlefield DLC, namely Turning Tides and Second Assault. The freebies are part of the developer’s Road to Battlefield V campaign, which as previously reported is also offering a bunch of cosmetic items by playing Battlefield 1. As for the DLC, Turning Tides is one of Battlefield 1’s major expansions, and focuses on Britain’s assault on the Gallipoli peninsula in 1915....

In addition to a potential Picard-centric Star Trek revival, an animated series, and a series set at Starfleet Academy, the Star Trek TV universe is reportedly also considering expanding their world with two limited series. While there is yet to be any plot details around one of these limited series, Variety reports that the other would be based about the Wrath of Khan storyline. Last week saw the release of the highly anticipated Starlink: Battle for Atlas. While the toys and gameplay looked interesting, the most awaited aspect was arguably the inclusion of Star Fox in the Nintendo Switch version of the game. It was an unexpected announcement, and applauded by fans as this looked to be a great Star Fox experience the Switch was missing at the moment. Interestingly, Ubisoft actually began to implement Fox’s Arwing before the deal was confirmed by Nintendo....

Last April, Ubisoft informed players that it had a game codenamed Project Q in development. A PvP team battle arena game, Project Q would have allowed players to, according to Ubisoft “truly own the experience.” Naturally, players had a few questions regarding what exactly this new game would entail, including whether or not it would eventually feature NFTs despite Ubisoft’s assurances to the contrary. However, it seems that players will never truly find out the answers to these questions, as Ubisoft told VGC that it has canceled Project Q....

Ubisoft stocks have plummeted following the news of several cancelled projects and lower than expected sales throughout 2022. In a call with investors, the company said it was facing “major challenges as the industry continues to shift towards mega-brands and long-lasting titles”, resulting in the underperformance of recent releases Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and Just Dance 2023. Since the announcement, company stocks have fallen by 19 percent to trade at €19....

A free trial of EA’s cutesy platformer Unravel is now available to download on EA Access and Origin Access. The time-limited 10-hour trial offers subscribers access to the first two levels, with progress able to be carried over to the full game should you decide to pick it up next week. Subscribers can also get a 10% discount on the full game, bringing it down to £13.49. EA Access is only available on Xbox One, while Origin Access is exclusive to PC....
